Whihala Beach & Lakefront Trail is a newly renovated gem located in Whiting. Our section goes from the pavilion and pier all the way down to the end of Whilhala Beach.

Parking

There is ample paid parking along the lakefront and beach. Parking will be more crowded by the bathhouse and the pavilion.

Restrooms

This trail section has restrooms at the pavilion, and seasonal bathrooms at the bath house.

Trail Vibe

The new renovations of the Whiting lakefront are truly beautiful. A large pavilion and pier stretch out into Lake Michigan, shored up by giant piles of rock. The lakefront has wide open sidewalks with bench swings facing the water. It's a lovely and tranquil way to spend an afternoon. Paths criss-cross the entire area. Trees? Got it. Playgrounds? Several. Long stretch of beach? Got that, too. We like to walk all the way down the beach where it can be much quieter. Depending on the time of year, Whoa Zone might be set up, and there might be lots of boats anchored farther down. Technically the paved bike trail runs up along the parking lot, not down by the beach.
