Erie-Lackawanna Trail
A long paved rail trail stretching from Hammond to Crown Point.
Trail Section Length
Approximately 3 miles roundtrip
Parking
Parking can be found at the public lot at Kennedy & Highway, the small lot under the Ridge Rd. overpass, or at the trail lot located at 45th St.
Restrooms
This trail section has restrooms in the public parking lot, open seasonally. You can also use the restroom at the grocery store, which has a diaper changing table in the women's bathroom. There are no other restrooms along this section of trail.
Trail Vibe
This section of the Erie-Lackawanna Trail is very residential, lined with homes and neighborhoods. It is paved and mostly flat, going past the high school, ball fields, and ending at 45th St. There is the obligatory NWI pipeline, of course, but also some fun native grasses growing in the middle drainage area. The trail crosses a small creek via a bridge with a metal grating. While it isn't anything overly special, it's the Brew Crew's OG trail section.
